Why did you choose to study at Writtle University College?
I wanted to study at a university which was smaller and had more of a family feel than other campus or town universities. Also, the course suited me and fulfilled all my requirements.
What does Writtle University College mean to you?
A place where I met friends for life, made business contacts and a college that got me settled on the career I have chosen.
What did you particularly enjoy about your course?
I particularly liked the business management elements which were very theoretical and something I had not studied before. In my agricultural modules, my lecturers organised regular trips for us to see what we had learnt in lectures. This included farms, machinery manufactures, diverse agricultural businesses and agricultural professionals.
One of my lecturers did a lot of consultancy work and would regularly share his findings with us, allowing us to use the most real-time information, as well as seeing real-world applications of our studies.
My Current Job
I work for AB Agri, the agricultural division of Associated British Foods. I am on the supply chain graduate scheme. My current role is within a compound feeds mill, as an assistant site manager.
I use the management element of my degree frequently, but it’s the less obvious skills like the ability to write highly detailed reports which I use constantly.
Future Plans
I am very career minded. AB Agri is a global business so I hope to travel and then take a senior management role in the next five years.
