Why did you choose to study at Writtle University College?
The broad scope of the HND I completed at Writtle was critical in giving me the foundation of knowledge and experience I needed to take my first steps into a career that has allowed me to succeed across the globe in my chosen field.

What does Writtle University College mean to you?
The course had a broad base but allowed me to target my specialism without pigeon-holing me too much. The key in the final analysis, however, was the staff - the lecturing and practical staff had a pedigree second to none. Their real world experience and reputations, expertise, insight and recommendations gave me a definite advantage over other graduates of my generation.

What did you particularly enjoy about your course?
I loved my time at Writtle. I loved the lessons I learnt, the friends I made, the enthusiasm I garnered from the staff and my peers. I look back at those years with immense fondness and gratitude.

My Career Path
Before attending Writtle I had been around golf my entire life, as the son of a well-known Head Greenkeeper in Scotland, so I appreciated the ‘hands on’ focus that my HND course took.

My Current Job
I am the CEO of a group of companies based in the USA, UK and Europe that focus on the design and construction of major golf projects. We are arguably the largest design and build firm of our kind.

Future Plans
Since Writtle, I have considered undertaking further study such as an MBA but so far haven’t been able to find the time. I have, however, been busy getting piloting qualifications; living in the US being a pilot makes travel a lot easier especially when my projects are spread all over the country.
