Louisa Roome

Graduated: BSc (Hons) Animal Management
Nationality: British
Occupation: Rehoming and Welfare assistant

Why did you choose to study at Writtle University College?
I have loved animals all my life and knew that I never wanted to work in an office. The deciding factor was that you had had such good feedback from previous students and that it was near to where I live.

What does Writtle University College mean to you?
It is a friendly, close knit group of people who care about you as an individual and not just a number. I was made to feel very welcome and I do miss the College.

What did you particularly enjoy about your course?
I enjoyed the practical side of the course getting to work with different animals.

My Career Path
This course helped me massively as needed to have a good background of welfare and husbandry work with animals to get the job at Battersea. Thanks to Writtle I got my dream job.

My Current Job
Rehoming and Welfare assistant at Battersea Dogs and Cats Home London. This was my first job. Love it so much and can’t see myself doing anything else.

Future Plans
Future plans are to go up the different levels at Battersea dogs and Cats home. I am also considering doing a dog hydrotherapy course in the near future and maybe going into more behavioural side of things rather than rehoming.
