Why did you choose to study at Writtle University College?
I chose to study at Writtle because the course was challenging and open, meaning that I could pursue several different career routes with the course content whilst also challenging myself.
What does Writtle University College mean to you?
Writtle was great! I loved living on campus and having everything I needed nearby. The staff were great and the lecturers knowledgeable in their subjects with both theoretical knowledge and industry experience.
What did you particularly enjoy about your course?
I really enjoyed the practical elements of the course, especially dissections in first year. I also really enjoyed the dissertation module, it was a good balance of practical and theoretical research and on completion you feel a massive sense of achievement.
My Career Path
The course I did at Writtle College helped me to get into what is a competitive industry. The understanding I gained during my course gave me an insight and understanding of the often difficult decisions that are made on a daily basis which has proved invaluable. Additionally, the knowledge I gained during my course has given me firm foundations on which to continue learning in my current job and to educate the public.

Animal Welfare Assistant – Blue Cross, Burford Rehoming Centre
Future Plans
For the next few years I would like to work my way into the behaviour department with my current employer. However I would also like to work in several different areas of the animal industry to get to real experience before doing a postgraduate qualification and going into teaching.
