I have a passion for therapy and performance and the need for evidence based research to support or dispute the use of complementary therapies. I have been a self-employed therapist and instructor in the past, but now focus on lecturing. I have currently undertaken a PGCHEP to improve my teaching skills also. I am now undertaking a PGDip in Veterinary Physiotherapy, to expand my therapy practice in to canine as well as equine.
Prior to entering lecturing I worked on various yards including Hartpury College where I helped run events as well as coordinate the day to day activities of the yard. During this time I obtained my BHS qualifications to teach riding. I also worked at the HEROs charity in Lambourn rehabilitating ex racehorses for a short time prior to working at Hartpury. It was during my time at Hartpury I realised my passion for continued education and lecturing. I went on to complete a practitioners diploma in Equine Sports Massage, where I then set up my own business, as well as worked as a self-employed sales agent for Equissage Therapy. This also linked well to my ability to teach riding so I could work with riders and horses. From this I decided to undertake a Masters degree and study the effects of massage to add validity to my work. I then obtained a role at Moulton College lecturing on further education and higher education courses, as well as being a course manager for the level 3 Equine BTEC programme. After 2 years in this post I decided to spread my wings and join Writtle University College where I wish to enhance my higher education lecturing skills, and work with students to create publishable research, as well as obtain a Postgraduate Diploma in Veterinary Physiotherapy.MRes Equine Performance
