Advanced Landscape Architecture Design Studio - (30 Credits)

Advanced Design Studio is the major design module for MALA, and DipLA and takes a project through a rigorous design process from conceptual planning and design stages with more specific and complete detail given to one or more selected parameters of the project. The project is selected by student closely linked to the dissertation area. It requires a complete landscape analysis from region to context to site. Detailed design applications are required as well as concept development leading to a comprehensive masterplan, detailed planting plan and construction documents where appropriate. In addition to this the design process will be used as a research tool to enhance ideas for master’s dissertation. The aim of this module is to fully plan and design a public or private landscape responding to a given overall theme. Projects will encompass most aspects of landscape architecture through assessment and design of social and ecological systems, scale relationships, urban and rural contexts and interdisciplinary collaboration and presentation responsibilities
