Applied Exercise Physiology - (15 credits)

The purpose of this module is to enable students to develop a detailed understanding of the limitations of human performance during different modes of exercise and under a range of environmental and scheduling conditions. Students will critically evaluate mechanisms proposed in the literature to explain the development of fatigue during exercise and will apply their knowledge of exercise physiology to analyse methods of training and other interventions to improve physical performance. A core feature of the model is the application of evidence based science to real world problems in exercise physiology.
