The role of rehabilitative medicine in veterinary practice is constantly evolving, and learning to work as part of a multidisciplinary team is vital. Students will learn the scope of practice and legislation for a range of paraprofessionals, and will develop key skills for working alongside them. Students will also evaluate a range of different rehabilitative mechanisms in order to effectively understand their place in rehabilitative medicine. Students will be encouraged to question and evaluate a range of paraprofessionals and therapies using both anecdotal and scientific information, resulting in their increased appreciation of the complex nature of this subject. Analysis of evidence to form a solid argument base is essential for those entering the field of animal therapy, in order to appropriately educate the layperson, as well as communicate effectively between paraprofessionals, and maintain the welfare of animals within their care.
