This level five module builds on the students’ previous practical and theoretical understanding developed in level four coaching and psychology modules. It aims to provide students with greater critically awareness of the theory of coaching science and empirical psychology as it pertains to leadership styles and qualities. In addition, the module will enhance students’ knowledge of effective coaching and environments, appraising strategies around motivation and creating group cohesiveness, managing conflict, and effective communication. The module will require students to develop coaching and leadership skills development plans, and practical coaching competency across different athletic populations. By the end of the module, students should have greater understanding of the role of a coach and how different leadership strategies can foster greater coach-athlete relationships and aid athletic performance.
