Professional Skills for the Sport Industry - (15 credits)

Professional Skills for the Sport Industry will allow students to develop a range of professional and academic skills necessary for successful HE study and employment in organisations within the sector. Professional Skills for the Sport Industry will aim to equip students with the key communication and numeracy skills they require as scientists and will also facilitate their personal and professional development in the vibrant sport industry. Subjects taught will not only reflect the academic skills but will also introduce the student to social and business aspects of the changing sport industry. Professional skills will be fostered through personal development planning utilising the e-portfolio to showcase the skills learned and extended through academic teaching. This will include business and industry-focused sessions. Competence in numerical analysis (including basic descriptive and inferential statistics) and data presentation as well as written communication which will be developed in conjunction with the academic skills nurtured through the access and interpretation of appropriate and relevant literature.
