Introduction to Animal Biomechanics - (15 credits)

Biomechanics is defined as mechanics applied to biology, and mechanics itself is the response of bodies to forces or displacements. This module will introduce the theories relating to movement. It will cover the basic laws of motion and other physical theories to aid in the understanding of the animal movement. Students will explore the movement of animal bodies describing different types of motion and be able to explain the anatomical and mechanical reasons behind the movement. This knowledge will be applied to a wide range of species and situations using both theory and practical based sessions.
