The module builds on students' existing knowledge of canine anatomy and physiology, following on from canine anatomy and physiology. The module will make use of taught session, practical dissections and palpation of live animals in order to give students a detailed understanding of various anatomical tissue types and structures within the canine body that come together to form the musculoskeletal system as a whole. A focus will be placed on relating form to function, giving an appreciation of how the musculoskeletal system coupled with the nervous act together to generate locomotion. Musculoskeletal and nervous dysfunction will be introduced within the module in order to enhance understanding of the above principles. Overall this module will give a detailed appreciation of osteology, myology, arthrology and neurology.
