Graduate, Professional Skills - (15 credits)

The module introduces students to the expectations of HE study helping your academic, professional and personal growth. It sets the tone for your studies in the School of Sustainable Environments and Design and helps you acquire the attributes Writtle University College aspires you to demonstrate, and those we know are valued by graduate employers. In this module and those connected to and running parallel to it, you will be given the opportunity to start the journey of active learning, approaching new challenges with a positive inquiring mind set. You will be encouraged to work and think across discipline boundaries using different perspectives to enhance your critical thinking skills. This will allow you to see the wider contexts of subjects in the School and the interrelationship and global contexts of these discipline areas. Team activities will be used to promote self-awareness and embed the University College’s core values of community, mutual respect, cultural awareness and inclusivity. Directly linked to this, and your whole first year learning experience, is a focus on understanding social responsibilities, through knowledge of environmental stewardship, sustainability, ethics and local to global awareness.
