Chemistry for Life Sciences - (15 credits)

This module introduces the student to general, organic and biochemistry in a manner that enables understanding of their chosen topic of further study, utilising examples that are relevant to the individual student’s career aspirations. Focusing on key concepts, students will consider the chemical background of a living organism, including the structure and properties of matter, what comprises energy, atomic structure and the formation of compounds. In particular, the module enables the student to develop an appreciation of why chemistry fundamentals will influence understanding of subjects studied later in the degree award.
