Interested in researching your own thesis – then come along to our Postgraduate Research Open Day on Saturday 22 October 2011.

Writtle College offers both research and taught postgraduate programmes. For those students opting to study for a masters by research the research community at Writtle is continuing to expand.

Open Days are the perfect opportunity for research focused students to find out all they need to know about Writtle College research opportunities, the application process, how to finance postgraduate studies, student life and what Writtle College is really about.

The morning of the open day will consist of an overview of the research community at Writtle College, including a focus on academic staff and their on-going research projects. Students attending the day will also take an in-depth look into current research topics and the various areas of expertise at the College, as well as being able to meet current research students during lunch.

The day will finish with an official tour of facilities and School specific talks – taking in to consideration the various thesis subject areas that an interested student could propose. Possible subject areas include: sport, animal, equine, design, conservation, crops and postharvest.

Dr Carlos De Luna, Principal Lecturer in Animal Science and College Research Coordinator commented about the forthcoming day: “It is really important to see for yourself what we have to offer at Writtle College and this is an excellent opportunity for prospective students to get a feel for our campus and the research opportunities that are available. Undertaking a research degree at Writtle College is flexible and can be undertaken on a full or part-time basis.”

The programme for the day will also take a look at the College’s Postgraduate Research Society, the Writtle College Students’ Union, accommodation and finance and fees.

The open day will start at 10am and will end at 3pm. The day will be hosted in the Main College Building, room L41. Free parking is available.

Info on Research Degrees at Writtle College

Each of the three Schools at Writtle College work in collaboration with a number of national and international institutions and organisations on applied research and consultancy projects. The research community regularly contributes to peer reviewed journals and attends academic conferences both within the UK and across the globe.

Degrees by research are available at both masters and doctorate level.
