The floristry department from Writtle College recently exhibited at the Hampton Court Palace flower show - Tuesday 5 to Sunday 10 July.
The theme for the 2011 floral exhibits was 'The Swinging Sixties' which was set to evoke nostalgic memories of UK bands and solo artists, and their songs from the era. The College exhibit was entitled ‘Puppet on a String’.
Elaine Thackray from the Floristry team said: “Our exhibit looked impressive this year and we were very proud of the effort gone into it and was a real crowd pleaser. The Duchess of Cornwall came over to the stand on the RHS member’s show day and shook hands with the students who worked on the display. The Duchess enjoyed telling them ‘how much she loved the College’s interpretation of the theme and how she had a pair of boots in the 60's similar to the ones on the puppet!’.”
