John Philpott to offer Keynote at the CIPD annual event

Writtle College will once again act as hosts to the Essex, Ipswich, East London CIPD (Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development) branch meeting on Wednesday 9 March 2011.

The Keynote speaker for the event is Dr John Philpott the CIPD's Chief Economist. John was appointed Chief Economist at the CIPD in 2000 and has supported the CIPD to advance their business thinking efficiency. John has a high media profile and active social media following

Suzanne Bolwell-Davies, Central Essex Group Chair, is “really proud to have such a high profile and respected Keynote Speaker to address our Meeting. This promises to be a lively debate.”

Professor David Butcher, Principal of Writtle College will be officially opening the event and introducing John Philpott. Academic staff and students from the College will be invited to attend the event, as well as Human Resource colleagues from around the Essex, Ipswich, and East London area.

Project coordinator Nigel Kirby, for the Business Development Unit at Writtle College says: “The CIPD Branch Meetings provide an excellent forum for students to attend and network with professional HR practitioners and to hear firsthand topical issues being debated, especially with Dr John Philpott the CIPD’s Chief Economist giving the Keynote presentation.” Dr Philpott will examine recent developments in the economy and jobs market and compare the CIPD view of the outlook for 2011 and 2012 with official forecasts. He will then look at policies that aim to boost longer-term growth and employment and consider what these might mean for HR practice.”
