Graham Gooch, OBE, former cricketer and captain of the Essex and England teams honoured graduates on Friday 10 September at a graduation ceremony for Animal, Sport and Equine science students from Writtle College.

Mr Gooch addressed College graduates with many wise words about luck and prosperity: “In cricket, sport and in life you have to compete with yourself as well as others to get on. There are four skills that are most important to success in life; Attitude, Ability, Knowledge, and Concentration.”

Continuing with the same theme Mr Gooch went on to say “If you don’t prepare, someone else will and remember that luck is ‘quality preparation as it meets the moment of opportunity.” As a final note of well wishing he said: “success in life is an inside job.”
