Why not have a restful and relaxing family day out at Writtle College? Summer flowers are in full bloom and on full display for all to see on Sunday 11 July between 10am and 4pm at Writtle College.
The opening is part of the National Garden Scheme, a charitable trust which provides financial support to a wide range of charitable institutions.
Writtle College, just outside Chelmsford is one of the county’s largest Open Gardens advertised in the Yellow Book, the NGS guide to gardens open for charity throughout England and Wales. There are 15 acres of gardens and grounds to meander around, informal lawns with naturalised spring bulbs, heathers, a large collection of trees, and landscaped gardens designed and built by the College’s students including a ’Centenary’ garden.
New this year is the development of 13-acre parkland area. An orchard meadow has recently been started on the site of an old apple orchard. Keen gardeners will be interested to know that horticultural tips and guidance will be available on the day from College tutors!
The College restaurant will be open for refreshments, making it a great day out for all. Admission costs £3.00 with children entering free of charge.
