RADIO PRESENTER AWARDS FURTHER EDUCATION STUDENTS AT WRITTLE COLLEGE

The awards ceremony marks the success of students completing full-time Further Education courses at the College including equine, animal care, floristry, agriculture and countryside, design, sport and horticulture. The annual presentation day will take place on Friday 9 July on the main campus at Writtle College.

Presenting the awards will be local radio presenter and landscape gardener, Ken Crowther. Ken runs his own landscaping business and is a popular local figure in the world of horticulture.

Also in attendance will be the Mayor and Mayoress of Chelmsford, Councillor Simon Walsh, local sponsors and governors.

The ceremony will feature a number of award categories, the first of the awards will be presented to students from the Animal Care and Management courses at 10.30am, Floristry, Art and Design, and Equine students will be at 12.00 noon, with a final ceremony at 2.00pm for Agriculture, Countryside, Horticulture, and Sport students.

Individual students will also be honoured in many different areas including those that have shown particular talent, dedication and skill during their studies. Many of these awards have been sponsored by local companies the awards include; the ‘New Eden Landscapes’ Award, presented for ‘Personal and Technical Improvement’; the ‘Oak View’ Award for ‘Peer Support and Consistent Good Work’ and for ‘Excellent Level of Achievement; the ‘Hussey and Greaves’ Award presented to the ‘most consistent achiever’ in Art and Design; the ‘Seawhite of Brighton’ Award for ‘Outstanding Achievement.’

The prestigious Blue Cross Welfare Award will also be presented to one dedicated Animal Care/ Equine student. This will be the second year that a Blue Cross Welfare award has been presented at the College - it is an exceptional recognition of achievement within the industry.

Writtle College’s Head of Further Education, Andy Sparks, said: “Once again we look forward to congratulating our completing full-time further education students. They have worked hard during their studies and this award ceremony is such an exceptional occasion for all involved – we look forward to celebrating with them in July.”
