Writtle College is launching an MA Historic Designed Landscapes course in the Autumn this year (2010). The Masters course will join the successful landscape and conservation postgraduate programme running at the College and as with the others will be validated by the University of Essex.
The MA in Historic Landscapes explores issues surrounding the conservation and management of important historic landscapes. The course is modular and may be studied full or part-time or as part of a CPD programme. Some of the modules are drawn from the Master of Arts in Landscape Architecture, which is fully accredited by the Landscape Institute.
A full-time student can complete the course in one year, studying two taught semesters from September to June. The research dissertation is then submitted in October. Part-time students can take two - three years to complete the course accessing the course on a weekly day release basis.
The part-time programme offers greater flexibility for those with demanding work or home based commitments.
The College has excellent facilities and resources to support postgraduate provision and local and regional historic landscapes within easy reach of the College which are used as case studies.
