WRITTLE COLLEGE IN SUPPORT OF ADULT LEARNERS’ WEEK 2010

May 2010

(NOTE: This is an archived press release.)

Writtle College are once again supporting Adult Learners’ Week (15-21 May) this year, by offering the public a chance to ask for learning advice and course information at High Chelmer Shopping Centre in Chelmsford.

To support the Adult Learners’ week campaign, the College will have a stand in the High Chelmer Shopping Centre from 17-21 May 2010, Chelmsford – the stand will be manned throughout the week.

Piloted in 2008, the initiative that encourages the public to meet staff from the College in an informal setting proved a great success, with College staff volunteering to represent and advise to members of the public looking to gain advice about adult learning.

Adult Learners’ Week is the UK’s largest festival and celebration of adult learning, co-ordinated by NIACE (The National Institute of Adult Continuing Education – England and Wales), and the ‘Sign up and Shine’ campaign encourages adults to sign up for further education and develop their skills to enhance their future.

Writtle College provides vocational training and practical awards, University of Essex Foundation and Honours degrees and Postgraduate programmes. They also provide a variety of short courses and workshops. Subjects available include animal and equine, horticulture and landscaping, art and design, business management, sport, conservation and environment, agriculture and floristry. The College welcome enquiries from adult learners, as well as employers who wish to discuss training opportunities available at the College.
