On Sunday 21 March, Writtle College is once again opening its doors to the public, and this time they are inviting all to the College farm for a Lambing Open Day.

The day offers the chance for visitors to see the new born lambs, visit the new herd of beef cattle and simply explore the farming estate and all that it holds.

With a small farmers market, talks from College agricultural and animal experts, games and competitions, there really will be something to keep the whole family entertained.

The College farm is set within the 220 hectare estate, with 135 hectares devoted entirely to farming practices and production.

The College farm (Sturgeons) is located on Cow Watering Lane, Writtle Village and the opening times for the day will be 10am to 4pm. Refreshments will be available throughout the day.

There is a small entrance fee for the day - Adults £2 and Concessions £1.

For more information please contact Rebecca Harris; 01245 424200 or email

A proportion of funds raised on the day will be donated to an agricultural charity.
