All students on Higher Education courses at Writtle have been invited to attend a week of study activities from the 8 to 12 March. Study week is a week of teaching and activity at the College and students are invited to attend events that course teams have planned specifically for their subject area.
Every course has a programme of events including lectures, practical workshops, industry speakers, careers talks, student research presentations, and industry focused trips. All of the events relate to curriculum and current assignments.
On Monday, Writtle School of Design will be hosting a workshop entitled: ‘Drawing as a tool for design’. This will be a skills sharing workshop, which will consider drawing as a tool to express and communicate design ideas using a range of methods and materials. On the Friday the School will conclude their week by offering all interested students a specific tour of London titled – ‘Art Architecture and History in London’.
Alternatively, the School of Horticulture will be hosting a day of Landscape industry experts. All higher education horticulture students have been invited to listen to the expertise of Dominic Cole, talking about the work of the Garden History Society, plus a number of other external Landscape experts.
The School of Sustainable Environments have set a schedule of activities for all Agriculture, Conservation and Business students. Notably on Wednesday 10 March, the Management Education Centre at Writtle will be hosting a ‘business debate’. The debate will focus on motions for and against – “Education in Human Values, not Human Rights Legislation is best placed to lead us away from global humanitarian crises.”
On Monday, the School of Sport, Equine and Animal Sciences have organised an Animal and Equine Careers Day. Representatives from industry have been invited to attend with stands and information about potential career and employment opportunities. Alongside the careers day, Sport academics will be hosting sport science testing in collaboration with Sport Essex, this will be ongoing throughout the week.
