Why not have a restful and relaxing family day out at Writtle College? Spring blooms are coming out and will be on display for all to see on Mothers Day between 10am and 4pm at Writtle College. The college restaurant will be open too so it will be a great day out for garden loving mums!
Writtle College, just outside Chelmsford is one of the county’s largest Open Gardens advertised in the Yellow Book, the NGS guide to gardens open for charity throughout England and Wales. There are 15 acres of gardens and grounds to meander around, informal lawns with naturalised spring bulbs, heathers, a large collection of trees, and landscaped gardens designed and built by the College’s students including a ’Centenary’ garden.
New this year is the development of 13-acre parkland area. An orchard meadow has recently been started on the site of an old apple orchard
Keen gardeners will be interested to know that horticultural tips and guidance will be available on the day from College tutors!
Admission costs £3.00 with children entering free of charge.
There is a second chance to see the gardens with seasonal bedding displays and summer plants in full bloom on Sunday 11 July.
