Katrina Skybak Doyle is celebrating success. The creative director of Cloud Hill Flowers was named "Wedding & Event Florist of the Year" at the British Florist Association Awards 2022.
Katrina said: "I was amazed and honoured to win this prestigious award; it was judged by the best in our industry, so it blew me away to be able to bring the trophy home. The BFA Awards are a testament to the floristry skill we use within my business for every wedding and event, this skill would not even exist if it was not for Writtle University College. The platform the university provided was invaluable to the career I went on to build in a relatively short time".
Cloud Hill Flowers produces beautiful, affordable luxury designs for events and weddings, focusing on details and 'wow factor'. The company also reached the Regional Finals in The Wedding Industry Awards (TWIA) and was awarded a Highly Commended East of England Florist of the Year 2022.
Katrina has always been passionate about the art of floristry and studied the subject Writtle University College, where she achieved a Distinction. She combines her passion for floral design with experience within the events, catering and hospitality industries to craft sustainable, creative, high impact designs.
Writtle University College's Director of Further Education, Faye Burrage, said: "We'd like to congratulate Katrina on her outstanding achievements. We're always delighted to see our former students become leaders within their industries."
All of the florists working at Cloud Hill Flowers gained qualifications at Writtle University College. Katrina has employed over 16 former students as freelancers since the business began in 2017.
She said: "Whenever a Writtle University College student or graduate works with us, we know the skillset and calibre of the florist. A Writtle University College qualification provides reassurance as an employer and a sense of community amongst the florists that work within the business. I feel fortunate to be able to provide our work experience program and an employment platform as a continuation of our florist's journey".
