In March 2022, BSc (Hons) Horticulture student, William Charity, celebrated reaching the Young Horticulturalist of the Year Regional Finals.
The competition allows people under the age of 30 an opportunity to test their knowledge of horticulture and network with fellow members of the industry. The ultimate winner of the competition wins a £2500 bursary to fund horticultural-related travel anywhere in the world.
The event took place on Sunday 19th March at Somerleyton Hall in Suffolk and was run by the Chartered Institute of Horticulture (CIH).
William said: "I was lucky enough to get through round one in February and compete in the Eastern Regional Finals. I reached fifth place, which I am really pleased about, as it was a tough competition."
This isn't William's first success within the sector. In 2021, he was awarded a David Colegrave Foundation student scholarship and has already developed a flourishing landscaping business.
