Writtle University College (WUC) in Essex has announced a new project, in partnership with Provender Nurseries Ltd. WUC will be dedicating a small section of its countryside estate to the production of commercial ornamentals. The operation will offer university students an excellent opportunity to gain industry experience on campus.

Managing Director at Provender Nurseries Ltd, Richard McKenna, and his colleague, Production and Biosecurity Manager, Stuart Tickner, visited WUC to discuss the final arrangements with Senior Lecturers Dr Kami (Kambiz) Baghalian and Mick Lavelle. Preparations are already underway to create an area for indoor and outdoor shrubs.

WUC's Dr Anya Perera said: "We're delighted to be working with Provender Nurseries Ltd. Our collaboration will offer a fantastic opportunity for our students to gain experience in commercial production of ornamental plants. We've already taken a big step forward, with the students making amazing progress on the site we plan to use."

Richard McKenna and Stuart Tickner will be welcomed back to Writtle University College on December 8th, when they will talk to students about the project's next steps.
