Writle University College students have made an exciting start to their coaching pathway with some great industry-based experience, coaching Year 3 and Year 6 at Meadgate Primary School.

The first group of Level 3 Foundation Diploma in Sports Coaching and Development students started their placement with the school in September, delivering fun multi-activity sessions to pupils aged 7 to 11.

Foundation Diploma in Sports Coaching and Development student Cailin Barry said "I think it's important to do these placements as they help us to develop our skills, not only with our peers but also with the young people we are coaching.

"We are developing skills that we will use in future careers which is always useful, and it's also enjoyable to spend with our peers and it's a good feeling to be doing sports with others who share the same passion!"

Course Manager Alice Langley added: "I'm so impressed with how well our students have demonstrated their coaching and leadership skills during these sessions - it's clear to see that they hard work they are putting in during their lessons is being reflected in the practical sessions they are delivering".
