Writtle University College (WUC) is delighted to announce plans for a new Centre for Exercise and Health. The 'Health Hub' replaces the former Sports Science Centre. It will offer students professional work experience and shadowing opportunities, more practical laboratory space and new laboratory testing sport kit including a NordBord, HumanTrak and ForceDecks platforms.

The Centre is currently undergoing refurbishment and will be located on the Main Campus. The sizable space will support human health and wellbeing while also offering a wide range of scientific equipment and research opportunities for students, academics and professional partners.

Dr. Gregory Deacon, WUC's Head of Sport, said: "This is an exciting step for our sports courses. It's one of many fantastic new exercise, health and wellbeing projects and will help us to support students, athletes, professional practice and the local community."

The rapidly growing sports department will be announcing further projects during 2021 and 2022. Each project supports a wider strategy to increase opportunities for students and the community while promoting inclusivity in sport.

The Centre is a strong addition to the University College's existing sporting facilities, which include a gym, extensive playing fields, equestrian facilities, bike trails, sports fields, indoor courts and a reservoir for outdoor activities. On July 3rd, WUC will launch the UK's first, permanent, bespoke 3x3 basketball courts.
