Writtle University College's Canine Therapy Clinic has found a unique way to celebrate its first anniversary. The clinic launched in 2019 and continues to use physiotherapy and hydrotherapy to support the health of companion animals and police dogs.

Lauren Hunt says: "To celebrate we decided to give back to our lovely clients and fans by running a competition in conjunction with the Team Baloo Fund."

Retired Police Dog Baloo is a three-year-old Belgian Malinois. She unfortunately suffered severe injuries in the course of her police work, losing a front leg, and needing extensive metal work to repair her pelvis.

Baloo was adopted by retired Metropolitan Police Dog handler, Mandy. Together they have been carrying out important work in the community. Team Baloo improves awareness and understanding of disabilities, and spreads Baloo's story of positivity, resilience and strength, following major trauma.

Baloo and Mandy have visited schools, community groups and emergency services personnel; boosting morale and helping to support mental health. Members of the public can support team Baloo with voluntary donations via Team Baloo's website, www.teambaloofund.org (external link not associated with Writtle University College).

Friends of Team Baloo have kindly donated a range of prizes to celebrate WUC Canine Clinic's anniversary. Seven lucky people will win one of the following:

  • 1 free session with the WUC Canine Therapy Clinics
  • Two 'Baby Baloos' from Lara's cottage crafts
  • A gift box of three festive soy wax candles
  • A gift box of four festive soy wax candles, both from The Soy Wax Candle Company
  • A Christmas raw food hamper and treats from Raw Made Simple
  • A meet and greet with RPD Baloo herself!

To enter, or for more information, visit the WUC Canine Therapy Clinic's facebook page to like and share the relevant competition post. Entries are valid until midnight 14th December 2020. Winners will be randomly chosen by RPD Baloo on the 15th December.
