Essex-based solicitors at Birkett Long have continued their generous support of Writtle University College's (WUC's) Equine Academy by contributing towards branded equipment for riders and their horses for the third consecutive year. The 2020 squad will be wearing branded kit in the University College's colours with logos representing both Birkett Long and Writtle University College whilst the horses will have access to Academy numnahs and quarter sheets when training and out competing.
Lecturer in Equine Performance and WUC Academy coach Jane Hart said: "We could not be more delighted to continue our great relationship with Birkett Long. We would like to thank the company for their continued support. The stylish kit representing both Birkett Long and WUC really brings the squad riders together where they look and feel part of a cohesive team".
Caroline Flanagan, the head of Higher Education equine programmes at WUC, said: "Birkett Long's support helps our students to pursue their dream of being a competitive rider while continuing with their education. The University College has an excellent reputation for delivering exceptional equine degree programmes and enhancing students' employability. We are delighted to offer Academy members expert coaching as well as fitness and nutrition advice for both themselves as riders and their horses, all with an eye on improving performance".
Equine Academy members are determined and dedicated competitive equestrians. They understand their goals and see them realised with the support and guidance of experienced and professional in-house and guest coaches, whether in Dressage, Showjumping, or Eventing, or another recognised horse sport.
Academy member Rude Morris said: "The Academy experience has aided my personal development and has enabled me to put theoretical knowledge gained from my lectures into practice. Each training session has helped me to understand the key factors that influence young horse development, performance and more importantly longevity. As a squad member for the last two years, the WUC academy has offered opportunities and has enhanced my external riding career."
David Cant, Partner and Director of Business Development & Marketing at Birkett Long, said: "I am delighted that we have been able to sponsor the WUC Equine Academy for the third consecutive year. It is a truly outstanding facility and I never cease to be amazed by the enthusiasm and professionalism of the staff and students."
