Writtle University College (WUC) and Leyton Orient Football Club are celebrating the launch of their new Female Football Academy. This exciting programme is already accepting applications for September 2020. Post-16 learners will study for qualifications at WUC, while expanding their football skills with professional coaching from Leyton Orient FC.

WUC is located just two miles from the city of Chelmsford. Spacious facilities and excellent transport links make it an excellent location for students from the East of England. Footballers will enjoy high quality support from UEFA licensed coaches, while benefitting from a bespoke academic pathway.

Steve Spencer, Head of Department at WUC, said, "This is a great opportunity to work with a professional football club to build on the rising interest in girls' and women's football and combine it with an industry linked academic course."

Alice Langley, Female Football Academy Course Manager added, "We are excited to be able to offer this new pathway here at WUC and look forward to hearing from prospective students."

Students will study a BTEC Level 3 Foundation/Extended Diploma in Personal Training and Fitness, and the team will take part in the AoC Sport East Women's Regional Football League on Wednesday afternoons wearing the Leyton Orient colours, and have the opportunity to play in the Leyton Orient U18s Development Team on Saturdays.

Martin Ling, Director of Football at Leyton Orient said, "We're delighted to be launching this programme with Writtle University College."

"This initiative will expand the female football pathway with Leyton Orient, and it's one we're really excited to start."
