MA Landscape Architecture and Garden Design students recently attended the Chelmsford Waterways Workshop at Chelmsford Civic Centre, in relation to the Sandford Mill Design Project. The workshop was organised by the Chelmsford Waterways Working Group and Chelmsford City Council.

The morning's presentations were from a variety of stakeholders about river use, the quality of the water and ecology, and the future of these important assets, including Essex Waterways, the Environment Agency, Essex Wildlife Trust, Chelmsford Sea Cadets, the replacement of Chelmer Weir and lock proposals, as well as for Sandford Mill and the wider country park.

The presentations were followed by topic discussion groups, with the overall aim of the day to shape the future of the riverways and green infrastructure of Chelmsford.
