Floral designer Simon Lycett to talk at WUC

World renowned floral designer Simon Lycett will visit Writtle University College on June 4th 2019.

The famous florist will provide an inspirational talk from 11.30am to 12.30pm at the Northumberland Lecture Theatre. To book your place, contact the Floristry Resource Centre on 01245 424 274.

Guests will be offered an exciting glimpse into Simon’s professional background. A household name since 1993, he shot to fame after arranging flowers for the smash-hit film 'Four Weddings And A Funeral'.

In 2019, he reunited with the original cast to supply in excess of 5,000 floral stems for ‘One Red Nose Day and A Wedding’.

Simon’s high profile clients include Sir Elton John, Sir Ringo Starr and Thandie Newton. He created the wedding decorations for Their Royal Highnesses the Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall at Windsor Castle, David and Victoria Beckham, Cheryl Cole and most recently the State Entrance, the Grand Staircase and the Grand Reception Room for the wedding of HRH Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank.

Simon is a regular guest on ITV’s The Alan Titchmarsh Show. His other television appearances include the transformation of the Henry VIII Banqueting Hall at Leeds Castle for the BBC1 series ‘Classic Mary Berry’ and his work on the BBC2 documentary ‘The World’s Biggest Flower Market’.

As a member of the RHS House Plants & Cut Flowers Advisory Group, Simon is one of the people to help and advise the RHS, impacting its overall activities.

He’s received professional recognition from multiple sources. In 2013, he was voted the Florist of the Year by New Covent Garden Flower Market in their inaugural awards.

In 2015, he had the honour of being awarded Honorary Fellowship status from the Institute of Professional Florists and went to the House of Commons to receive his certificate.
