Degree students from the design schemes at Writtle College are busy preparing their show-stopping pieces for the eagerly anticipated opening of this year's Design Degree Show.
The free, annual event, which opens on Wednesday 18 May with a private viewing, showcases the talents of students who are studying a Higher Education design course at Writtle.
The Show itself is a unique combination of artworks, garden designs, landscape architecture proposals, floral displays and interior schemes, which is split across three dedicated studio spaces on campus. The three studios will be converted into exhibition space and open to the general public from Thursday 19 May through to Saturday 21 May.
The exhibition is the culmination of work from Contemporary Art & Design, Interior Architecture & Design, Landscape Architecture & Garden Design and Professional Floristry students at degree and Masters levels.
Dr Anya Perera, who is Head of School for the design degree courses at Writtle, said: "The standard of work on display is always incredible. Students work exceptionally hard, with support from our expert teaching staff, in order to prepare their final pieces for the event.
"It's a chance for everyone to celebrate and admire the high-quality of work on display and is a fantastic opportunity for the general public to see that too. It's a rare chance for anyone with an interest in design to visit our campus and speak directly with students and staff about university degrees in a very different environment.
"We have a history for producing award-winning alumni and this event really emphasises that. People always leave here with an excellent impression of the calibre of our students and teaching. The level of interest shown by the industry reflects how much they value the work at Writtle too and students can also use this event as a key opportunity to network and create contacts for when they enter the world of work.
"The launch event buzzes with visitors, family and friends of students, alumni, potential employers, guest speakers and staff - an inspirational showcase of what our students can achieve."
The Show invitation was also design by a Writtle students, with this year's winning image by Rosey Tay - BA (Hons) Interior Architecture & Design.
