Two Writtle College graduates have been given prestigious prizes.

Rosie Kippen and Daniel Bright, who both graduated with a BSc (Hons) Horticulture this year, were given Worshipful Company of Gardeners Prizes at its annual Autumn Court Dinner at the Fishmongers Hall, London.

Rosie and Daniel were nominated by the Horticulture course team for their contribution to the course and to the College.

While at Writtle, Rosie was one of only eight finalists in the national Young Horticulturist of the Year competition 2014, after winning the Writtle College heat and regional final, and met celebrity gardener David Domoney, who was the Grand Final Question Master. She also worked on Alan Titchmarsh’s Love Your Garden and Britain’s Best Gardens shows after the producer approached Writtle for candidates.

Daniel was featured on BBC Essex while a student here, for his dissertation into how to delay lettuce limpness.

Daniel and Rosie, who were both Student Ambassadors while at the College, were honoured alongside students from Kew, Capel, Royal Parks Guild, and Wisley.
