The Lordships Stud staff and Writtle College students welcomed a new arrival this morning 24 April – a filly foal!
Ila was born at 5.55am to her dam, Ali G. Ali G is not owned by the College; she is a livery at the Stud unit.
Caroline Brace, Stud Groom, said: “Students sat up overnight monitoring the mare for signs of foaling. Ila’s owners are very pleased with the new addition to their family by the local stallion Temple Tamability from the Temple Stud.”
Owners Louise and Jackie Searle said: “We are very pleased with our new addition, she is full of beans and has been running rings around her mother already!”
Both mare and foal are doing well and will be on-site for the Lordships Stud Open Day on 10th May 2015. Doors are open to the public from 11am.
Handley Barns Daphne is also expecting a foal on 4 May.
