The College’s Mark Walker has been coaching the Commonwealth time trial champion cyclist for the one-hour record attempt scheduled for February.

The Movistar Team rider, from Chelmsford, crashed while training in Essex on Tuesday <13 January> and broke his collarbone.

Mark, Course Manager for the FdSc Cycling Performance, said: “We are currently evaluating the situation and, when we know more, the team will make a further announcement. It's certainly a big setback to any attempt on the hour but the first priority has to be Alex's welfare and to ensure he makes a speedy recovery.”

Alex helped present the awards at one of the College's Graduation Ceremonies last year.
