Doctor Chris Bishop of the postharvest unit at Writtle College recently visited Pakistan where he had the opportunity to meet former Writtle College student Dr Bajwa. Dr Bishop was reunited with Dr Bajwa for the first time since teaching him at the College more than 20 years ago.
“I remember Dr Bajwa, as he was then, very clearly as he was an outstanding student. It has been a fantastic experience to visit him in Pakistan and to see first-hand all of the excellent work he’s put into practice since studying with us at Writtle.” said Dr Chris Bishop.
Dr Bajwa’s recent positions have included the post of Director of Postharvest Research Centre at the University of Faisalabad in Pakistan. He has also been working as a consultant to FAO (Food and Agriculture Organisation of the UN) and the World Bank.
His son, Dr Bajwa junior, is working on a project with Dr Bishop and it is hoped that he will follow in his father’s footsteps and be making a visit to Writtle in the near future.
