Tickets are available for an afternoon lecture with Dr Jill Raggett at The Beth Chatto Gardens Tea Room on the 13 March 2012. The lecture, entitled Gardens in Japan – Refining Nature is being held in aid of Garden Re-Leaf, a national campaign to raise funds for garden charities.
Jill is a Reader in Gardens and Designed Landscapes at Writtle College, an Adjunct Professor at the Nova Scotia Agricultural College, Canada and recipient of a National Teaching Fellowship.
Her lecture will focus on the Gardens in Japan, which have a long history with their origins in Shinto beliefs. Fine historic examples are treasured; however in the urban metropolis many Japanese lack the space for a garden. Jill will be delving into the cultivation and expressions of gardens in Japan during her afternoon lecture.
Booking for the lecture is essential, please call 01206 822007 or email office@bethchatto.co,uk to request a ticket. A suggested donation of £10 per person will go towards the Garden Re-Leaf campaign.
