GCSE confirmation and enrolment for Further Education (FE) programmes started yesterday at Writtle College and continues up to and on Wednesday 7 September.
Prospective FE students have been signing up for specialist courses in Agriculture, Sport, Horticulture, Art and Design, and many more.
The land based subject areas, including horticulture and agriculture, have the most places still available and interested students are urged to make contact swiftly to sign up.
The College's horticulture students recently hit the headlines locally when their specialist knowledge enabled the flowering of an exotic banana plant after one of the harshest winters on record in Essex. Now future students have an opportunity to join the horticulture curriculum and become experts in the subject area too.
Andy Sparks, Head of Further Education commented: “The FE curriculum aims to ensure that every student gains a fundamental core of specialist knowledge as well as a broad overview and insight into their chosen industry. The world faces many challenges over the next decade and beyond. We want Writtle students to leave the College equipped with confidence, knowledge and skills to support the specialist industries for which we train.”
Prospective students can attend information events today, Friday 26 August 10am – 6pm, Saturday 27 August 9am to 1pm and Wednesday 7 September 2pm to 7pm.
