Writtle College’s Lordships Stud will open its doors to the local community on Sunday 8 May from 11am to 3pm.

Adults and children are invited to the College stud for what promises to be a memorable experience for all. Visitors can see the mares, stallions, youngstock and the foals – which can be petted by the visitors.

During the day there will be a foal and stallion parade, an equine chiropractic demonstration, a backing and jumping demonstration, plus children will be able to ride on the stud’s mechanical horse or ‘throw the welly’ amongst other games and activities.

There will be a hog roast available, and the opportunity to purchase quality, local meat which has been born and reared at Writtle College. Craft stands and other refreshments will also be available throughout the day.

Sarah Goodwin, Stud Manager commented: “We decided to open the stud to the local public to bring more general awareness of what we do here at Lordships stud. We are also hoping to raise funds to support new fencing for the stud which is currently well worn.”

The entrance fee is £3 adults and £2 children, with a family of four ticket costing £8.

Limited parking is available at Lordship Stud. Alternative parking is available at

Lordships Science Centre. For more information please call Lordships Stud on 01245 420334.
