The Horse Welf-Air charity fundraising event, organised and run by first year Higher Education students from Equine and Animal courses, was held on Sunday 10 April and raised approximately £600 with over 200 people in attendance. The two chosen charities to receive donations from the funds raised are the British Horse Society Welfare & Essex Air Ambulance.

Lucinda McAlpine - international dressage rider and natural horsemanship trainer – headlined at the Charity event, which offered families a fun day out with a number of demonstrations, local trade stands, a raffle, and kid’s activities. Other demonstrations on the day covered a wide range of equestrian and animal disciplines, such as BHS Trec, Horseball, carriage driving, Paso Finos, equine spa, dog agility, show jumping, and anatomy in action.

The Horse Welf-Air Day charity event was sponsored by Marriage’s Feeds, Inter Equine, and Malom Accountancy and Payroll Ltd.

Pennie Wallace, Senior Equine Lecturer said: “This event is especially organised by the students as part of their event management module assessment and has consistently proved to be a big success for the three years that the students have hosted the event.”

The event was held at the Animal Care and Horse Unit at the College’s Cow Watering Lane campus.
