On Sunday 20 March, Writtle College is once again inviting visitors to the popular Lambing Open Day. Last year the event was a resounding success with up to 900 people visiting the College during the Lambing Open Day.

The day offers the chance for visitors to see the new born lambs, visit the herd of beef cattle, and to simply explore the College estate and all that it holds.

The College will be selling its own special ‘Writtle recipe sausages’ at a small farmers market, talks from College agricultural and animal experts will be hosted throughout the day, while games and competitions will be set up to keep the whole family entertained.

The College farm is set within the 220 hectare estate, with 135 hectares devoted entirely to farming practices and production.

The College farm (Sturgeons) is located on Cow Watering Lane, Writtle Village, and the opening times for the day will be 10am to 4pm. Refreshments will be available throughout the day.

There is a small entrance fee for the day - family ticket £10 (two adults, two children), adults £4, children £2, with children aged four and under entering for free.

Some of the funds raised on the day will be donated to the RABI an agricultural charity supporting farming families.
