The Work-based Learning team at Writtle College will be hosting an Apprenticeship Open Day for all those interested in the qualification which enables students to earn while they learn.
Coinciding with National Apprenticeship Week - 7 to 11 February - Writtle College will be opening its doors to interested Apprenticeship students on Saturday 12 February.
The day will cover all areas of the College Apprenticeship portfolio including Animal Care, Equine, Gardening and Landscaping, Sports Turf and Vet Nursing. Subject specific taster sessions led by Further Education Lecturers have been built into the programme for the day, followed by lunch, and finishing with a question and answer session for any unanswered queries about Apprenticeships.
Past and present students will be on hand during the day to offer advice and information on their personal experience as an Apprentice at Writtle College.
Writtle College’s Work-based Learning Coordinator Leanne Lockhart said: “We believe this will be a great opportunity for prospective learners and we hope that many of those interested in the qualification will attend the day and find out more. Students can study for both a Level 2 and Level 3 Apprenticeship here at the College and following completion of the level 3, students will have the option to progress in to Higher Education if they wish to do so.”
The Apprenticeship Open Day will be held in the main hall of the College and will start at 10.15am – 2.00pm.
In addition to students, employers are urged to attend the day to find out about how employing an Apprentice can benefit them and their company. It is recommended that arrival time for potential Employees is 12.30pm so that they can enjoy lunch alongside attendees.
From September 2012 the College will also be offering Apprenticeships in floristry, sport and agriculture.
