The School of Horticulture and the Further Education division Horticulture at Writtle College had the pleasure of welcoming representatives of the Geoff Hamilton’s New Gardeners’ Foundation to the College on Tuesday 12 May. Geoff’s wife Lynda and twin brother Tony Hamilton presented four Writtle students with bursaries towards their course fees and living expenses while they studied Horticulture.

The process for awarding the students was a tough job for this year, due to the quantity and very high standard of applications. The Board of Trustees decided on an equal split of £1000 to four of the applicants. The successful students this year were:

Sarah Tull FdSc Horticulture

Paul Bassett BSc Hons Horticulture

Alex New EDEXCEL National Diploma

Jack Conway EDEXCEL National Diploma

The Trustees were given a tour of the gardens, plant collection and campus, including the accommodation halls named after Geoff Hamilton, as well as the opportunity to meet the successful students.

The Geoff Hamilton New Gardeners’ Foundation has worked with Writtle for a number of years and will continue its support for students studying Horticulture. Please refer to the website for further information and for further information about Geoff's life and work
