Further Education Equine students have organised a Showing Show to be held at the Equine Unit at Writtle College on Sunday 23 May, to raise money for J’s Hospice.
The students have organised the show and it will include three rings – Ring One for In-hand classes where horses are lead and shown in categories such as best condition and different breeds. There are approximately 10 different classes in this ring. Ring Two for Ridden Pony where young riders and ponies ride to compete in different classes. Ring Three is the Working Hunter and Novelty class. There will also be trade stalls for all equine enthusiasts to enjoy.
A championship will be held at the end of the day where trophies and sashes will be won and rosettes will be given down to sixth place in every class, as well as other prizes.
Entrants of the Showing Show will include students studying on other equine courses at the College, who will be participating and assessed as part of their study programme. Members of the public are also welcome to show their horses (a show entry fee applies).
Student and Show Secretary, Laura da Rita, said: “We’ve all had different roles in the organisation of this event which has made it a great learning experience for all involved. Most of the students will be showing in the competition as well, which makes for an excellent day for all involved.”
