Congratulations to Claire and Zoe, the winners of the 'Wonders of Nature' photography competition.

Writtle University College's library received 60 submissions from staff and students on the theme of 'Wild Essex'.

On Thursday 23rd March, certificates and prizes were awarded to the winners and shortlisted candidates. The student and staff winners were chosen by a judging panel, with the 'People's Choice' award decided by an online vote by the University College's community.

Horticulture Lecturer Zoe entered an image of a landscape at sunrise (pictured).

Zoe said: "It was such a lovely surprise to find out that I had won both the People's Choice and the Staff Award for my photograph. Photography is very much a passion of mine as it enables me to slow down to nature's pace and be mindful and still away from the busyness of life. I always like to think that nature is the artist and I am merely the storyteller."

The Student Award was given to Claire for her outstanding image of a ladybird.

The event is run annually by the University College's library team and highly commended images will remain on display in the library throughout the month of March.
