In 2022, 3x3 basketball featured in the Commonwealth Games for the first time.

Team England took gold and silver in the 3x3 Finals as the Men shot to the top against Australia in a spectular game.

The Women's Team finished as runners-up after Canada snatched victory with a last-second shot.

Writtle University College lecturer Mark Williams was the strength and conditioning lead for England's 3x3 Basketball Men's and Women's teams.

His programmes contributed to keeping players in the best possible physical condition at the Commonwealth Games.

"It's been magical," said Mark. "I'm honoured to be part of this working alongside brilliant people. I have huge respect for all the volunteers working extraordinarily hard to make Birmingham 2022 an incredible Commonwealth Games."

In 2021, Writtle Univeristy College launched its own permanent 3x3 basketball facilities. The courful courts have already hosted amateur and elite athletes, including a Ball Out Tournament.
